History

The European Lesbian Volleyball Tournament (Eulevoto) began in 1989 when a group of lesbian volleyball players in Berlin decided to create a tournament exclusively for lesbian teams. They wanted to provide a space where lesbian teams could connect and compete fairly, as they felt marginalized in mixed tournaments dominated by male teams.

Since 1992, the tournament has traveled across Europe to 19 cities from 11 countries each Easter weekend, originally called the International Lesbian Volleyball Tournament and renamed Eulevoto in the 2000s.

In 2025, a survey was held during the 34th edition in Paris 2025 to consider a new tournament name, reflecting its growing and diverse community, with results still pending.

Unique in its organization, the tournament is hosted annually by volunteers from different cities, offering multiple skill levels so everyone can participate, from beginners to experienced players. So far, 19 cities across 11 countries have hosted Eulevoto, with the 35th edition planned to take place in Graz, Austria.
